Johnny M. Gibbs, M.D.

Fellowship Trained in Orthopedic Sports Medicine, and Arthroscopy, Dr. Gibbs specializes in advanced arthroscopic, reconstructive, and minimally invasive surgeries for both the upper and lower extremities for all ages of athletes.

Dr. Gibbs completed his Bachelor of Health Science in Physical Therapy with Honors at the University of Florida, and received his Medical Degree at the University of South Florida where he was elected into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He then completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at the John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, and returned to Tampa for additional fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at the University of South Florida.

Additionally, Dr. Gibbs is one of the few orthopedic surgeons in the area with advanced fellowship training in hip arthroscopy for labral tears. He has received numerous awards for orthopedic research and continues this interest by pursuing the development of newer orthopedic implants and arthroscopic techniques to improve surgical outcomes.

Whether you are a highly competitive athlete or a weekend warrior, Dr. Gibbs has been trained on the most advanced technology available in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the knee, shoulder, hip, and elbow resulting in less down time with a quicker recovery process. Dr. Gibbs has expertise to treat the following: shoulder injuries including rotator cuff tears, labral tears, dislocations, knee ligament and cartilage injuries, meniscus tears, and fractures.
