Dr. Diaz received his Bachelors Degree Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico and his Medical Degree, also Cum Laude, from the University Central Del Carribe School of Medicine in Puerto Rico. He completed residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Texas Health Science Center, at San Antonio with special training in EMG & nerve conduction studies and pain management and sports medicine. He joined Sarasota Orthopedic Associates in 2001.
Dr. Diaz is a board certified member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Association of Academic Physiatrists and the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports, and Occupational Rehabilitation.

Dr. Furman specializes in Arthritis and Joint Replacement Surgery. Dr. Furman joined the practice in 1987. He has served as Chief of Orthopedics at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Doctors Hospital and Health South Rehabilitation Hospital of Sarasota. He engages in Orthopedic Research as well as publishing articles in medical journals. He has traveled to centers in Asia lecturing and instructing on total joint replacements. He received his undergraduate degree at Northeastern University in Boston, his medical degree from Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York, his surgical internship at Mt. Sinai, and his fellowship in Total Joint Replacements/Arthroscopic Surgery at the renowned Anderson Orthopedic Research Institute in Virginia.

Fellowship Trained in Orthopedic Sports Medicine, and Arthroscopy, Dr. Gibbs specializes in advanced arthroscopic, reconstructive, and minimally invasive surgeries for both the upper and lower extremities for all ages of athletes.
Dr. Gibbs completed his Bachelor of Health Science in Physical Therapy with Honors at the University of Florida, and received his Medical Degree at the University of South Florida where he was elected into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He then completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at the John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, and returned to Tampa for additional fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at the University of South Florida.
Additionally, Dr. Gibbs is one of the few orthopedic surgeons in the area with advanced fellowship training in hip arthroscopy for labral tears. He has received numerous awards for orthopedic research and continues this interest by pursuing the development of newer orthopedic implants and arthroscopic techniques to improve surgical outcomes.

Michael J. Gordon, M.D.

Dr. Michael J. Gordon graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Yale University in 1992 and obtained his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in 1998. He completed his residency training at Baylor College of Medicine and subsequently completed a 12 month Orthopedic Hand Surgery Fellowship at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in the New York University Medical Center.
He specializes in treatment of the upper extremity. From the fingertip to the shoulder, he is well versed in the management of arthritis, trauma and other problems of the upper limb. He treats compression neuropathies such as cubital and carpal tunnel syndrome. He also performs arthroscopy of the joints of the upper extremity and is trained in the latest techniques for treating fractures of the shoulder, arm, forearm, wrist and hand.
A large proportion of Dr. Gordon's patients are children and Dr. Gordon and his staff enjoy caring for Sarasota's pediatric population. Dr. Gordon treats both upper extremity and general pediatric orthopedic conditions.
Dr. Gordon also has a background in medical research. He has spoken at national orthopedic surgery meetings and has been published in several peer-reviewed journals.
He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and by the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He has also received the Certificate of Added Qualification in Hand Surgery.

Daniel J. Howard, D.P.M.

Dr. Howard is board certified and specializes in Lower Extremity Orthopedic Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery. He has completed an advanced Fellowship training program in Complex Foot and Leg surgery through Sarasota Orthopedic Associates and Dr. Harold W. Vogler in 2003. He received his medical degree from Barry University, with his undergraduate B.S. Degree and Masters Degrees and study in electrical engineering and advanced mathematics from The University of West Florida. Dr. Howard also served as an aerospace engineer prior to medical school from his training at Purdue University. Currently he is involved with the Fellowship program in Complex Foot and Ankle Surgery in conjunction with Dr.Vogler & Sarasota Orthopedic Associates. Dr. Howard is published as a contributor in a foot & ankle surgical textbook.
Paul Lento, M.D.

Fellowship Trained and Board Certified in Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation, and Subspecialty Certified in Sports Medicine, Dr. Lento specializes in the non-surgical treatment of various musculoskeletal problems by identifying the cause of musculoskeletal pain or loss of function and determines whether the problem is mechanical, inflammatory, or degenerative. Together with a variety of non-surgical strategies, Dr. Lento addresses these problems which ables patients to get back to enjoying life.
Dr. Lento received his medical degree from Temple University in Philadelphia and began serving as a Medical Officer in the United States Navy at Pensacola Naval Hospital where he was selected Intern of the Year. He returned to Philadelphia to complete his residency where he obtained the highest written board score in the country in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R). The following year, he completed a fellowship in sports and non-operative spine rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, the #1 rated rehabilitation hospital in the country. After a 10 year stay of training medical students, residents, and fellows, he returned to Philadelphia as an Associate Professor at Temple University Medical School working alongside Orthopedic Surgeons in the Sports Medicine Department.
Dr. Lento sits as an advisor for the North American Spine Society providing the appropriate use of exercise to treat spinal conditions. He is also a nationally and internationally recognized expert in the use of Diagnostic Musculoskeletal Ultrasound. The Musculoskeletal Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging test of the musculoskeletal system to diagnose tendon, muscle, and ligament tears, inflammation or fluid within joints, early changes of rheumatoid arthritis, cartilage, nerve entrapments, and soft tissues without the use of ionizing radiation or MRI. He uses ultrasound in two distinct methods; noninvasive diagnostics and for the guidance of injections directly into problematic areas.

Randall C. Morgan, M.D.

Dr. Randall C. Morgan, Jr. is an orthopedic surgeon who has achieved a career of excellence in service to his patients, visionary leadership in group medical practice, community and youth mentorship and leadership in serveral national medical organizations. He presently serves as the Executive Director of the W. Montague Cobb/National Medical Association (NMA) Health Institute. He remains engaged in the practice of orthopedic surgery in Sarasota and Bradenton, Florida. Dr. Morgan served as the 95th President of the NMA from 1996-1997.
Dr. Morgan was born in Gary, Indiana, October 3, 1943 to Joyce Tatum Morgan and Randall C. Morgan Sr. He was actively engaged in scholarship, scouting, music and varsity athletics during his childhood. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Gary, Indiana as co-valedictorian in 1961. He then entered Grinnell College, Grinnell, Iowa and graduated in June 1965 with a B.A. degree in Chemistry. He began a long career of medicine after being accepted in the class of 1969 at Howard University College of Medicine where he was deeply impacted by the many outstanding members of the faculty who were career role models and are now recognized as icons in the history of African Americans in medicine.
After graduation from medical school, Dr. Morgan served an internship and an orthopedic surgery residency at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. There he was recognized as "Resident of the Year" and was also Chief Resident of Orthopedic Surgery. He then served as a Resident physician at the prestigious Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey, California and completed his residency in July 1974. Dr. Morgan joined two of his Northwestern faculty members in their private practice in Evanston, IL and became the first African American surgeon on the staff of Evanston Hospital. Due to a serious community need for orthopedic surgeons in his hometown of Gary, Indiana, he chose to return to Gary to practice in September 1975.
Dr. Morgan is a true pioneer in his profession. He practiced medicine in his hometown of Gary, Indiana for 30 years. With the assistance of his father, Dr. Randall Morgan Sr., he founded The Orthopedic Centers of Northwestern Indiana and served as its president from 1975 until 1995 when it merged with the Indiana Hand Center of Indianapolis, IN. The practice has the largest number of African American orthopedic surgeons of any practice in the United States at the time. He also completed a fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in 1985. He served as Assisant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Indiana University and as Clinical Associate at Northwestern University during his active practice in Indiana. In order to support his interest in leadership in medicine, he obtained an MBA degree at the University of South Florida in 2001.
Dr. Morgan has been recognized for his contributions to medicine and society by several institutions. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is certified by the American Board of Managed Care Medicine. He served as Chief of surgery, Chief of Orthopedics and Chief of Rehabilitation Medicine during his tenure on the staff at The Methodist Hospitals of Gary and Merrillville, Indiana.
He was named the "Physician of the Year" by the National Medical Association, northwest Indiana Chapter in 1986 and was President of the Indiana Orthopedic Society in 1998-1999. he was awarded the Distinguished Ciation by the national sorority Phi Delta Kappa Inc. The city of Gary recognized his contributions by electing Dr. Morgan to the Steel City Hall of Fame. In 2005, Dr. Morgan received the Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy Award for National Service and the Joseph Pitts Award for Community Service form the Gary Branch of the NAACP, where he served a Chair of the Life Membership Dinner committee for five years, until 2005.
Dr. Morgan presently serves as a Life Trustee of Grinnell College and a member of the Board of Directors of the Indiana University Foundation. A singular highlight for him was to be a recipient of an honorary degree, Doctor of Science by his alma mater Grinnell College in 1992.
He has served the National Medical Association in many capacities before and after the Presidency and since June 2005, has served with dedication as the first Executive Direcotr of the W. Montague Cobb/NMA Health Institute, named for one of his Howard University Medical School faculty members and mentors.
Dr. Morgan relocated to Florida in April of 2005 where he established a new orthopedic surgery practice and continued to serve all patients including those who are underserved. He is now a partner with Sarasota Orthopedic Associates, a prestigious specialty practice in Sarasota and Bradenton, FL. He presently serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Othopedic Surgery at Florida State School of Medicine and as Clinical Assistant Professor of Communtiy Medicine at the University of Connecticut Health Center. It is there that he continues to develop his research interest in health and healthcare disparities and musculoskeletal disparities as well. He has made over 200 scientific presentations and has published many perr reviewed articles and a book chapter in orthopedic surgery, health policy and health disparities. He is an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity in Sarasota.
He and his wife Karen J. Morgan reside in Bradenton, FL and have three adult daughters, Dr. Sharon Robinson of Evanston, IL., Dr. Laura Morgan Roberts of Atlanta, GA and Ms. Carlam. Green of Chicago, IL. The Morgan have five energetic grandchildren who keep them active with love and mentoring.
Andrew W. Moulton, M.D
Dr. Moulton specializes in spine surgery. He is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders in pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. He performs all aspects of spinal care, from non-operative treatments to minimally invasive surgery, tumor, fracture and deformity correction. Dr. Moulton is also the Founder and President of the Board of Directors of the Butterfly Foundation, a non-profit medical organization dedicated to improving the lives of children with complex spinal deformity in developing countries. Dr. Moulton received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Neurophysiology at the University of California in Los Angeles. Subsequently, he received his medical degree from the State University of New York Down State School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Moulton followed with a fellowship in Spinal Surgery at New York University/Hospital for Joint Disease. He was then nominated as a Traveling Fellow by the North American Spine Society, wherein he trained at many of the premier spinal surgery centers around the world. Committed to education, Dr. Moulton previously served as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at New York Medical College where he trained the orthopedic residents and the Hospital for Special Surgery spine fellows. He has published several papers in professional journals, is the editor of a textbook of spinal deformity, and has served as faculty for the Cleveland Clinic Review Courses. He is fluent in Spanish, Japanese and Portuguese.
In addition to utilizing his spine surgery expertise on his patients of all ages, Dr. Moulton devotes a great deal of time caring for and providing surgery to children all over the world in dire need of corrective spine surgery; many times saving their lives. Dr. Brian C. Rell Received his degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine and completed an intensive 3-year reconstructive foot and ankle surgical residency at The Graduate Hospital in Center City Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Rell is double board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery (ABPS), both in Foot Surgery and in Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery, and is also a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS).
Dr. Rell has been practicing in Manatee County for over 10 years and holds privileges at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, Doctor’s Hospital of Sarasota, and Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He provides comprehensive evaluation and care for patients of all ages and various pathologies including pediatric deformities and congenital conditions. Additionally, Dr. Rell has specialized training in complex reconstruction of the foot and ankle, including flat foot reconstruction, joint replacements, joint fusions, Achilles tendon ruptures, tendon transfers and arthroscopic surgery. He is one of a select few Podiatrists in The State of Florida that is trained and certified in Total Ankle Replacement Surgery.
Many patients do not require surgery or invasive treatment. For those patients, Dr. Rell utilizes cutting edge non-surgical techniques including: Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injection therapy, functional bracing and orthotics, and rehabilitative exercise programs. Bunions, hammertoes, heel pain, plantar fasciitis and arthritis can often be conservatively treated with functional rehabilitation of foot and ankle. In those cases requiring bunion or hammertoe surgery, Dr. Rell utilizes his expertise to provide the latest in procedural and technological options.
Dr. Rell serves as a Team Physician to the Baltimore Orioles and has expertise in treating sports related foot and ankle injuries. Dr. Silverstein specializes in the operative and non-operative treatments for patients with arthritis and fractures of the hip and knee joints. He has been trained in the latest techniques for hip and knee joint replacements including muscle sparing surgical techniques, partial knee replacements, customized patient specific implants, hip resurfacing, computer and robotic-assisted surgery and care for fractures of the hip and knee.
He is originally from West Virginia, where he received his medical degree from West Virginia University. Dr. Silverstein completed his orthopedic surgery residency in 2011 at the University of Illinois in Chicago, followed by an additional one year fellowship in hip and knee replacement surgery with the Florida Orthopedic Institute in Tampa.
Dr. Silverstein focuses on improving the quality of life for his patients in a compassionate and comprehensive manner. He believes that it is important for physicians and patients to communicate openly, effectively and work together to achieve the best outcomes.
